Standard bloodwork misses the markers that matter most for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. For each test, the checklist tells you exactly what to say, what optimal looks like, and what your results mean.
01
Fasting Insulin
The earliest signal of insulin resistance. Missed when only glucose is tested.
02
HOMA-IR
A calculated score that reveals insulin resistance even when individual values look "normal."
03
Full Thyroid Panel
TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3, and TPO antibodies. Not TSH alone.
04
Morning Cortisol
Baseline adrenal function. Must be drawn at the right time to mean anything.
05
DHEA-S
The adrenal precursor to testosterone and estrogen that most HRT protocols never replace.
Why this matters
You can have a "normal" lab panel and significant hormonal dysfunction. Standard reference ranges are built on population averages, not on what's optimal for a woman in menopause.
Most doctors don't order these tests without being asked. Not because they don't care, but because the standard of care doesn't require it. That means advocacy falls on you.
All five tests can be drawn in a single blood draw. There's no reason not to have this information. This checklist gives you the language to ask for it.
